Welcome back & Happy New Year!
When asking the children why Martin Luther King was so important that we have a day off to celebrate his birthday their response was:
Naomi: “Because he helped every one”
Tarahneh: “He changed the law because he wanted every one to be happy”
Selah: “Because he wanted to change the world, so white and black kids can go to the same school”
Claire: “He wanted to help other people more”
Jason: “He’s nice to every one, and he’s special to help every one be nice”
Other cute things they say:
Claire: “Don’t touch your eyes because they’re fragile”
Selah: “I’m having a laugh attack!”
Zoe: “This is like our second house where we have lots of fun and we know everything around us”
Ezri: “One day I will go to College to learn how to change diapers”
We had Community Helpers from all over come share their professions with us. The kids learned so much!

January 2011
Our Good Neighbor Montessori children are well rested from Winter Break and are ready for a fun filled month. For the month of January we are learning about Volcanoes and Hot Lava. We have been coloring, reading and doing experiments. We are looking forward to making volcanoes and watching them erupt.
We have collected a few of the children’s quotes related to what has been and will be learned this month so far (just the beginning) and wanted to share them with you!
We asked, “What is a Volcano and what is Lava?”
Brandon “It looks like a rock, it can blow up hot lava and dirt.”
Madelyn “It blows up fire.”
Julian “It shoots fire out from the top, Sshhhhhh!”
Ethan R. “Do you know who God is? He’s the one who made the whole world, he made space, volcanoes and even lava.”
Luke “Lava is hot.”
Saira “A volcano is like the thing that blows up hot stuff from the bottom of the earth.”
Sachith “A volcano breathes out lava and it’s made out of rocks.”
Chloe D. “It’s like a shape of a mountain but at the top it’s cut off.”
Katie “It blows up hot lava.”
